Ashlyn Michelle

4 months ago tomorrow, we welcomed a new (and tiny) addition into our family. Ashlyn Michelle Ainscough was born at 3:03 pm on March 29th, 2011. (due date was april 15th) She was 5 lbs 12 oz, and 19 in. long.

Here's the story:
On march 23rd, we went in for one of our appointments. I was dialated to a 3, which didn't surprise me, because i knew the time was coming up. I could just feel it. I was still working, and worried about going into labor at work. Clint and I let my doctor know that i was still working, and asked when he thought a good time for me to start my maternity leave would be. I was trying to work up to the last minute, so that i didn't waste my maternity leave waiting for Ashlyn to come. He said that i should have saturday the 26th be my last day, because if i came in on the 29th and was dialated to a 4, then we could have our baby!
On March 29th, Clint and i had our hospital bag packed and ready, hoping we wouldn't be coming home from this appointment. Our appointment was supposed to be sometime around 9ish that morning, but the dr. office called and told us that our dr. was in an emergency surgery, and asked to re schedule at 11.

Bummer.

We went to our appointment at 11, but still, no Doctor. We decided to just sit and wait for him to get back. He was leaving on vacation the next day, so we were determined to have him deliver our baby before he left. at 11:30, our doctor returned, and it was time to see what was going to happen. I was dialated to a 4, but hadn't been having any contractions. He said that we could walk around for a while, and see if any contractions started, and if they did, he would send us over to labor and delivery. WAIT WHAT?... that was NOT part of the agreement.

We were very disappointed. (With Makayla i didn't have contractions until the last minute, which resulted in a not fully working epidural.. ugh. lets not do that again!)

He must have either noticed our disappointment, or remembered that he was going on vacation and might miss the delivery while he was gone, because he told us to hold on, then left the room.
When he came back, he said that there was a room available in labor and delivery, so we went right over!!

Everything went quickly from there...

12
pm- sent over to labor and delivery by Dr Ward

12:30
pm- All hooked up and answering billions of ridiculous questions being asked by nurses.

1:00
pm- Dr. Ward breaks my water, & threatens that i better deliver before his shift ends at 5

2:45
ish- Nurse calls Dr ward and tells him it's time.. He asks if we can wait 20 mins while he finishes some other things... Nurse says No... DUH

3:03 pm- Ashlyn arrives after a few pushes!

Thank goodness my epidural worked this time. Who knew having a baby could be so painless!
